The Snowy Mountains
Saddle up for an adventure on the High Plains of Kosciuszko National Park
Saddle up for an authentic high-country adventure through the legendary landscapes of the Snowy Mountains. Ride beneath snow gums and across open alpine plains in one of Australia’s most spectacular regions.
Ride with us through one of the most history-rich National Parks in Australia
See the spectacular and unique fauna and flora, experience iconic mountain cattleman’s huts and at the end of the day share a scrumptious meal around the campfire with newfound friends.
Our experienced and fully qualified staff will guide guests across open plains, along mountain ridges, through rocky streams and recount the history of the high country as we ride the breathtaking Kosciuszko National Park. From the journey of First Nations people to cattlemen grazing leases, the rich gold rush era and the current home of the mighty Snowy Hydro scheme, the area is bursting with history.
The famous northern end of the Park is home to some of the best riding and sightseeing that the park has to offer.
Ready to Ride?
We have the horses for you!
Our horses are all fitted with Australian Stock Saddles.
We ride approximately 20 km a day or spend around 5 hours in the saddle. We provide a picnic-type lunch packed and carried by our packhorse to enjoy by a mountain stream.
Our guides will only go as fast as the slowest rider whilst on the trail. There may be an opportunity in some areas for those who are more experienced to go for a trot or canter if competent.
Please note; Horse riding is a dangerous activity and is also physically demanding.
As per our insurance requirements, riders will need to have a minimum of 5 hours of riding experience. This not only enhances your experience but also the experience of others. We also have an age limit of 10.
Safety is of utmost importance to us. All of our staff are first aid qualified. We carry a number of communication devices (phone, EPIRB, UHF/VHF radio) while on the trails and have satellite communication back at camp.
What About Camp?
Our camps are situated within the northern end of Kosciuszko Park.
Ware’s Yards - Our most popular and common campground sheltered in the snow gums, it offers different scenery in any direction you ride with a creek not too far from the camp.
Rocky Plains - Nestled in the foothills of Tantangara Mountain, beside a creek of the same name, Rocky Plains is a diverse location with access to Kiandra gold fields, Eucumbene river and much more.
The Pines cottage at Currango - If tents are not your forte and you would like to experience the old-world charm of the Stockmen’s Quarters at Currango Homestead, this may be the trip for you! With Old Currango and Four Mile huts not too far away and brumbies on the plain, it is an adventure not to be missed!
All of our camps are easy to find, just put the name into Google Maps and it will bring you right there!
Our tents are fitted with a jumbo stretcher and bikini stool keeping you off the ground and giving you a comfortable night’s sleep. Guests will need to bring their own bedding (sleeping bag and pillow)
Ride into camp for a light snack before enjoying a delicious three-course meal. Relax around the campfire while listening to stories and the crackle of the fire. Go for a fish or dip in the nearby alpine stream or enjoy a steaming hot shower.
